Half-Life Retrospective: Part 1 Half-Life

Hello readers, today im going to review Half-Life. Witch one, you ask. All of them, yes all of them. We will first take a look at the original, Half-Life. You play Dr. Gordon Freeman, a 27 year old physicsist working in Black Mesa. A secret laboratory in the middle of Mexico. At the begging of the game, its just another day in the workplace. But a risky experiment changes that, from this point on, nothing goes right for our protagonist Gordon. As you trie to make your way to the surface, you discover a horrofiying secret. The marines deployed to come rescue you, arent really going to rescue you. No they are coming to KILL YOU and the scientists in Black Mesa. So now its your mission to get to the surface and escape the marines.

But its no easy task, the failed experiment open´d a portal, and monsters came through the portal. Zombies, headcrabs, acid spitters, weird headless dog looking things and other enemies to make your way out harder. Along the way you might notice somewhere in the background a mysterious man in a blue suit with a red tie and a suitcase. This is a character named G-Man, he is called that because in the game files his model is named well G-Man. There is alot of speculation around his past and so many theories floating around the internet. Im not going to give you my two cents about his past and purpose, so lets continue before i start to ramble.

I´d like to think that the game is divided into three parts. The first part is getting to the surface. the second part is battling the marines and making your way through their defenses and the third part is fighting aliens in what can one be described as another dimension. This dimension doesnt appear to have planets, no just little floating islands made out of rock. On these little islands live aliens and you have to kill them to survive. Once you finish off the final boss you coud say, you enter a trolley and are greeted by none other than G-Man, he offers you a job. You can choose if you take the job or not, it is up to you. This does not affect the future of your game because this is the end and it doesnt make a diffrence in Half-Life 2. Alright thats about it for now, make sure to read part where i review Half-Life: Opposing Force and Half-Life: Blue Shift.

Bye now.

World of Warcraft

Hello readers, today im going to TALK about World of Warcraft, yes talk not review. Why? You ask, well because theres so much to talk about. I mean seriously this game is huge. So many thing to see and so many things to do. So ill just talk about basics and explain some things. Before i begin, i woud like to state that the stereotype of WoW players is completely wrong. WoW players are not socialy awkward freaks who live in their moms basement. Most players are socialy active, have alot of friends and usualy do a sport in their spare time, besides WoW. Yes there are some exeptions, of people who are well matching the stereotype.  Alright lets begin, World of Warcraft or WoW is a pay to play MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game). But it is not just one game, as alot of games have downloadable content or DLC, MMORPGs usualy have expansions. And WoW has 3 expansions. To play you must own World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (or also known as TBC), World of Warcraft: Wrath of The Lich King (also known as WOTLK) and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (also known as Cata). Once you have these games you register them on battle.net. Then you can start playing. WoW is set in the fictional world of Azeroth, Azeroth is divided into three continents Kalimdor, Northrend and Eastern Kingdoms. So to begin playing you must create a character, when doing so, you choose a faction (you must choose to be a member of the Alliance or the Horde, to put it simple the Alliance are the good guys and the Horde are bad guys), then you choose race, a class and you may choose to be male or female. You can also change your haircut, hair color, face, and depending on the sex and race you can change your facial hair, tusks, horns, percings, marks and such. Here are the races:

ALLIANCE
-HUMAN (regular race)
-DWARF (shorter than humans)
-NIGHT ELF (taller than humans, skin tone ranging from violet to light blue)
-GNOME (very short and comedic)
-DRAENEI (tall and blue)
-WORGEN (werewolfes, preety much it)

HORDE
-ORC (green and very strong looking)
-UNDEAD (zombies, just plain zombies)
-TAUREN (minotaur like creatures, very tall and slow)
-TROLL (tall and skin tone ranging from blue to green)
-BLOOD ELF (considerd to be homsexuals by the gaming community, due to their look)
-GOBLIN (very short green creature with large ears)

And here are the classes:
-WARRIOR (hand to hand combat, uses swords)
-PALADIN (hand to hand combat and casting, uses maces)
-HUNTER (ranged combat, uses axes and has a pet)
-ROUGE (hand to hand combat, uses daggers and is a stealth class)
-PRIEST (caster, uses staves, is a healer)
-DEATH KNIGHT (requires a level 55 character to create a character with this class)
-SHAMAN (versatile class uses hand to hand combat, casting and ranged attacks, uses maces and staves and shields)
-MAGE (caster, uses staves)
-WARLOCK (caster, uses staves)
-DRUID (hand to hand combat and caster, uses staves, daggers and swords)
Once you create your character you begin playing, you are put in the starting area, each race has a diffrent starting area. In this area you get a couple of quests so you can get to know the game and learn how to play. The next milestone is when you reach level 10, when you reach level 10 you unlock battlegrounds or also know as BGs. What are battlegrounds you ask? Battlegrounds are arenas where a team of Alliance players and a team Horde players battle it out. But theres also and objective, the objective differs on the arena. The objectives span from Capturing the Flag and other things. At level 10 you also unlock the feature to use Talent Points. What are Talent Points? Talent Points are like buff you choose what kind of branch you will choose. For example if you choose to be a Rouge you can assingh your Talent points to Subleyt, Combat or Assasination. Each of the branches has its own bonuses, it is up to you to choose witch one you think will benefit you most. The next milestone is when you reach 20, when you reach level 20 you can learn to ride a mount. A mount is, well like a veichle. For example, humans have horses, orcs have wolfs and so on. Where you learn how to ride a mount depends on your race. Your mount trainer is usualy right outside the starting area. Once you mount you moving speed increases for 60%. After level 20, thing get alot easier, more experience points (these are required for leveling up). There are a few more milestone but im not going to go into detail, im just going to list them:

-LEVEL 40 (you may train for a faster mount, it increases you speed by 100%)
-LEVEL 60 (you train for a flying mount, increases your speed by 150%)
-LEVEL 70 (you train for a faster flying mount, increases speed by 280%)
-LEVEL 80 (you train for an even faster flying mount, increases speed by 310%)
-LEVEL 85 (congratulations you have reached the level cap, that means that you have reached the highest level, you no longer need to earn experience points)

These milestones are very important, but dont think that all you do in WoW is quest and level up. The objective of the game is to reach level 85 , yes, but along the way you can participate in events and other things like, raids, dungeons, battlegrounds and all kinds of diffrent activites. So if you intend to play WoW, i hope you have fun, and i hope that this blog helped you understand the way the game works. Of course i didnt mention alot of thing like professions, gear, dual-spec and other thing. No, this blog is a beginers guide.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Hello readers, alright for my first review i decided to review a classic GTA: San Andreas. Considered to be a classic among gamers, i say they are... correct. Its a great open world, third person game. You play as Carl Johnson or CJ for short, you come home to Groove Street in the fictional state of San Andreas. Groove Street is in one of three fictional cities Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas. All of these cities are parodies of real cities, for example Los Santos is a parody of Los Angeles, Sna Fierro is a parody of San Francisco and Las Venturas is a parody of Las Vegas. These cities have all of the traits of the cities they are parodying like Los Santos has like Los Angeles, low buildings poor suburbs and gangs. San Fierro has like San Francisco the Goldengate Bridge, and trams running through the city. And of course Las Venturas has like Las Vegas casinos. Anyways where was i, ah yes. You return to your home Groove Street, upon your return you discover that your mother has died, rival gangs have taken over and basicly the entire place is a miserable shithole. So you take it upon yourself to make thing right. But in the process your brother gets arrested, you discover that  your so called friends are involved with another gang and on top a cop harasses you. Over a span of more than 100 missions you make thing right and take care of every problem. But when your finished with the missions that doesnt mean that your finished. To get 100% finished, you still have to do Taxi missions, Cop missions, Ambulance missions, Firefighter missions, collect cars, win races and so much more this game will keep you busy for a long time if you want to finish it 100%.
If your thinking your computer can handle this game, im sure it can. For its size it doesnt require much of a computer. If you want be able to run GTA: San Andreas, the game has to find on your PC the following: 1 GHz CPU, 256 MB of RAM, graphics card with 64 MB RAM and 3.6 GB of free space on the hard disk. These are the minimum requirements. For a smooth gaming experience, Rockstar recommends a Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP, 384 MB RAM and a 128 MB graphics card. An Audigy2 soundblaster and a gamepad are also recommended. The full version of the game will require 4.7 GB of free space. Considering the PC version of the game will come on a DVD, the PC must also have a DVD-ROM device, 16x being the recommended speed.
I hope that helped, also its recommended that you have a Windows 2000 or higher.

Overall grade of the game

GAMEPLAY Great, fun to play.
STORY Great story.
REQUIREMENTS Medium.

The only problem i have with this game is that, its a bit too long. I mean really 122 missions, and so much other stuff to do to get 100%. Thats the only problem i have with this game, to long.

 Bye now.

Welcome: An Introduction

Hello and welcome to my blog, i am as you can see by my screen name Jugow. And i am here to bring you blog about... VIDEO GAMES and movies, but mostly video games. Woohoo, well i cant wait to start. Right after i post this blog im going to start writing the next one. Since this is an intro, i shoud tell you what my blog is about. So here is my story, since i was a little boy i have been playing video games. When i was 4 years old i was playing Duke Nukem 3D and Lego Racers and other cool games. When i was 7 years old, i got a PS2 for Christmas, i was so happy. The first game i owned for the PS2 was Kingdom Hearts, at the time i was to young to fully appreciate the game. I mean the numerous cameos of Disney stars and the RPG elements were to me boring at the time. But now years later i can   fully appreciate the game. The next game i bought for my PS2 was Tekken 5, i loved it. For me it was the greatest thing ever, i cant even remember how many hours i spend on the floor in front of my TV button mashing trying to defeat my opponent. With time i got better at it and i bought other games, like Tony Hawks American Wasteland and 24 The Game and GTA Vice City Stories. But one faithful day, a friend of mine lent me a game it looked pretty cool. So i went home and played it, the game i played was Ratchet: Gladiator, or for my readers from the west Ratchet: Deadlocked. It was the best game i have ever played, its fun, great controls, a gripping story line and so many other thing made this the best game ever for me. Still to this day this is my favorite game of all time, and i have played some really good games, like Half-Life, Halo, WoW, GTA San Andreas and many others. Anyways lets continue the story, after a couple years of playing alot of my PS2 i got bored so i packed it up and put it in my closet, where it still is to this day. But i wasnt bored for long because i discovered a wonderful thing called THE INTERNET. Literally milions of flash games were uncoverd to me. Websites dedicated to flash games, OpenGL games and some many other things like Youtube. I watched so many Youtube clips over time, i woud literally spend hours just on Youtube watching cat videos and speed runs of games. On Youtube i one day discovered a video that changed my life, i saw Top Ten Game Consoles Of All Time by GameTrailers. My mind was blown, i thought to myself ˝There are other consoles?˝. Yes i discovered Nintendo, Xbox and others, so i really wanted to get into retro gaming. But unfortunatly  i live i a place where buy stuff online is almost impossible. All of the huge sites that sell stuff i woud want to buy dont ship into my country. Sites like Ebay, Amazon, they are mostly centred towards the US and Canada. Besides not that many sites have worldwide shipping, even if they woud ship to my country theres still the problem of payment. To pay for stuff online i woud need a PayPal account and a credit card. I have neither, so i was stuck on my PC until i discovered EMULATORS. I found  a site where you can play NES games online, i was instantly hooked. I spent hours upon hours playing Super Mario Bros. and Mega Man and The Legend of Zelda. Well after some time, a couple of years i got my own computer. It was mine but i had to share it with my family, and i was not happy at all with that. But finaly when i was in 8th grade i scraped up enough money to buy my own computer that was mine and only mine. And here i am writing my story online on my  computer in my room. But it wasnt all happy all the time, my parents got divorced witch was like a knockout punch for me. My brother took it alot better than me, but then again hes much older and more independent. But i shall sorrow no more and i will make something of my self starting with this blog site, so i hope you enjoyed reading about my story and i hope you check out my future blogs.

Bye now.
